i usedta sit on my back deck
fondly remember the past
it was the cheapest thing
that i could do
until one day the ice just cracked
no more comfterble time to relax
i felt an urge to move n fast
i had ta get back to
work if i wanted to
earn a little more of that sweet cash
lookin at sunsets is free
oh at least it used to be
until recently,
when they made time inta money
so i went out ta find some work
a little pay n a couple'o perks
filled out the application
with my information
n i gave it to the manager
she said "i need you on thursday"
i said "i'm sorry I can't thursday,
i've already made plans
to watch the sunset"
she said "that's very funny sir"
lookin at sunsets is free
oh at least it usedta be
until recently
when they made time into money
well i haven't been fired yet
but i'm addicted to cigarettes
smokin's the only way
for me to take my break
without gettin' myself into shit
but i haven't got any regrets...
cept maybe the cigarettes
they cost an arm n a leg
so i picked up an extra day
now i smoke while i watch my sunsets
cuz lookin at sunsets is free

in my folks livin room
i looked like a winner
